Living on campus at UW-Platteville provices students with special opportunities for growth, learning, fun and friendship. In addition, our branch campus (Baraboo Sauk County) offers residence hall living.

Residence hall living is an integral part of the college experience. Student life at UW-Platteville strives to create an environment that supports individual choice, develops a sense of community and emphasizes individual and group responsibility. Each hall is a community of approximately 240-600 residents, with a total residence hall population of approximately 3,000 students. Halls are conveniently located, computer networked with wireless internet, equipped with streaming television, and well maintained. Full-time, professional resident directors supervise the student resident assistants who reside on each wing or floor. Staff members in each building are carefully selected, specially trained and willing to help students have a successful campus living experience.

UW-Platteville’s main campus offers themed housing opportunities in affinity housing, living learning communities, (LLC’s) and interest communities (IC’s) as opportunities for students to combine their academic and co-curricular college experience. Information related to LLC’s and IC’s is available on our website https://www.uwplatt.edu/department/residence-life.

A unifying link within the residence hall community is the Residence Hall Association. Students elected to serve as representatives of this governance body promote an interest in and understanding of the campus environment and serve as a general forum for improving residence hall life.

UW-Platteville’s main campus has an on-campus residence hall requirement that derives from a University of Wisconsin Board of Regents policy that requires freshmen and sophomore students to live in university residence halls during the academic year, unless they qualify for an exception and are officially released by the Department of Residence Life. After being admitted to the university, students receive housing information which includes a link to descriptions for residence halls and information explaining the procedure to request an exception to the on-campus residency requirement. This residency requirement is enforced, and students must provide the information necessary to confirm their compliance with it. Please direct any questions to the Department of Residence Life. Students can sign up for room reservations by clicking on the Housing/Meals tab in their PASS account.
