Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree Requirements

B.A. and B.F.A. Degree Requirements (6 credits)

Choose six credits from two different subject areas from any of the following subcategories:

B.A. and B.F.A. World Languages Degree Requirements (0-8 credits)

Students must complete one of the following: 

  1. A minimum of two years (4 semesters) of high school world language courses in the same language with a "C" or higher average in the second year; or
  2. Completion of the second semester (or higher) in a university-level world language with a grade of "C" or higher. 

Students with one or more years of high school world language may wish to test into a higher level course.  Students already fluent in a second language other than French, German or Spanish should consult with the UW-Platteville Humanities Department.  

World Languages

  • Courses may not be available in all modalities (i.e., in person, online, hybrid, etc.).
  • Availability of specific languages is subject to scheduling, staffing, and student demand.
  • Retroactive credit may be earned. See Credit by Examination or Prior Learning.
  • The  world languages degree requirement is waived for international students. 
  • The world languages degree requirement may be waived for online degree students (exclusions may apply).
